Showcases
We are keen to develop the profile of north east artists and their work, both within and without the region and have developed a range of showcase events through which we are building links with fellow artists, promoters and producers and the press. As part of this strand of our work we have recently collaborated with Live Theatre in Newcastle to award two bursaries. The winners were;
Sawdust and Stardust, a unique collaborative work between songwriter Beccy Owen and writer/theatre director Laura Lindow. This fantastical one-woman show, incorporating live music, explores the relationship between character and voice and its potential for both power and fragility; and
Office 925, created by The Match Company, written by Zoe Cooper and directed by Jay Miller. Experience this unique site-specific play set in an office, where you will contribute to the events that unfold. To find out more and to book tickets visit the Live website
Other showcase events have included taking Hand-me-Down, Heartbreak Soup and The Gymnast to the Edinburgh Festival in 2008, and supporting Northern Firebrand's brilliant show Scarborough at the Royal Court, London in February/March 2008.
