Welcome to The Empty Space – North East England’s theatre development agency.
Our vision is to create the conditions that allow new and innovative work to flourish. We have a particular passion for work that challenges the boundaries of traditional theatre but also believe that a vibrant, thriving arts community needs the widest possible range of work and artists to sustain it.
We produce the work of a number of artists whose work most closely fits our passion. We also provide advice and support to a much bigger number of performing artists to help them to grow their practice and their business. This can include fundraising, mentoring, project management, marketing, business planning, tourbooking. All our programmes are tailored to the needs of the individual artist or company so probably include much more – just ask!
We can offer advice and help to performing artists in any field – from text based, to physical, puppetry to dance – and because of the generosity of our funders we are able to offer (as a minimum) our initial one-to-one consultations free of charge.
